Scholarly Communication encompasses all the ways in which the scholarly process has been changed by digital technology. The Library’s scholarly communication experts provide tools and support to help you manage your online scholarly presence, learn more about open access publishing and digital humanities, and answer your questions about copyright and your rights as an author.

Open Access

Open access refers to publishing models in which your work is disseminated in an open form that is freely accessible online. Research continues to show that making your work open access in any form will increase its impact.

As an open access university, USU is committed to supporting the open dissemination of work produced by USU students and scholars. Per USU Policy 586, the University is granted a non-exclusive license to the scholarly work of all USU employees, to be published open access in the University's institutional repository, Digital Commons. USU authors can easily inform publishers of this agreement by using the copyright addendum.

Digital Humanities

We can also help researchers get started working with text mining, data mining, GIS, and other applications to support Digital Humanities projects. Some of our recent projects include:

• Student online exhibits - a collaboration with students in English 4390, these exhibits explore cultural and narrative themes in several popular films.
