You can access the vast majority of library resources online through the library website using the links for Articles and Databases, our electronic journals list, or the library catalog or quick search systems. These links will pass through USU’s authentication system, allowing you to access library content wherever you have an internet connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Other Ways to Access E-resources

Using the tools and add-ons below, you can easily access full-text articles and other library subscriptions from searches in Google Scholar and other popular web services.

Google Scholar

Like using Google Scholar to search for academic research? You can configure Google Scholar to recognize USU as your library and automatically connect to full-text versions provided by USU Libraries.

Lean Library

Lean Library is a browser extension that alerts you when content is available through USU Libraries, making it easy to connect to full-text resources no matter where you start searching. Download the Lean Library extension.

VPN

USU's virtual private network (VPN) provides a secure connection to services on USU's campus network, including library e-resources. Learn how to setup the VPN on your device.

Accessing Materials Statewide

Use the library catalog or quick search to search for physical materials across all USU campus libraries. All USU students, faculty, and staff can access materials in the USU Libraries system, regardless of location. If you live outside Cache County, materials can be delivered to your home at no cost.

Print and Digital Delivery

Use ILLiad, our document delivery service, to request delivery of print materials or digital versions of articles or book chapters. While archival materials cannot circulate, items can be scanned for a nominal fee by contacting Special Collections and Archives at scweb@usu.edu or (435) 797-8248.

Materials From Other Libraries

For books, journal articles, and other items the Library does not own, place an interlibrary loan request in ILLiad and we will order the item from another library for you. Note this excludes textbooks. USU students, faculty, and staff can also check out materials in person from several academic libraries across Utah using your USU ID.

Troubleshooting Access Problems

You can avoid most issues by simply using links provided on the library website. This will ensure you are properly authenticated and can get authorized access to subscription resources.
