Put down your textbook and pick up a fun book. On Oct. 2, USU Libraries is inviting students to swap studying for stories at the Read-A-Thon in the New Books Lounge.

The event is part of Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox's statewide Read-A-Thon, a call for schools, businesses, and communities across Utah to set aside dedicated time to read on Oct. 2. The Coxes have encouraged Utahns of all ages to show up in their pajamas, bring a pillow, and spend the day with a good book as part of the broader Utah Reads initiative to boost literacy statewide.

USU Libraries is joining in with its own drop-in celebration. Head to the New Books Lounge on the second floor of Merrill-Cazier Library anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to unwind with a book, no sign-up required.

What to Expect

  • Pajamas encouraged (please dress appropriately). Come cozy and stay a while.
  • Prizes
  • Snacks available while supplies last

Whether you bring your own book or pick something up from our shelves, this is a chance to slow down, relax, and rediscover reading for fun.
