Come to the Merrill-Cazier library and see the all-new hydroponics exhibit that will be on display until March 14th, 2025, located in the library's 2nd Floor New Books Lounge. The exhibit features a variety of plants grown hydroponically, highlighting the benefits of soilless cultivation, including imporved yields, optimized nutrition, and reduced pests and diseases.

About The Exhibit

This interdisciplinary project was developed by Ph.D. candidate Noah J. Langenfeld, undergraduate library student worker Emily Daems, and graduate student/library employee Aurora Wallis Durfee. Their research, supported by the Merrill-Cazier Library archives, demonstrates hydroponics’ role in modern agriculture.

Attend The Lecture On February 26th

As part of the exhibit, Noah J. Langenfeld will present a lecture, “Hydroponics: Historical Principles and Current Practices,” on Wednesday, February 26th at 1 p.m. in the Library’s New Books Lounge. The talk will trace hydroponics from ancient civilizations, including the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, to its modern applications in precision agriculture and sustainable food production.
