Instruction

Special Collections and Archives (SCA) provides a wide range of instruction services to a diverse clientele. We conduct tours teaching about archival preservation, mentor students through internships and one-on-one interactions, create exhibits and deliver public presentations, and promote traditional classroom learning both through individual sessions and full-term courses in which students use SCA materials to create their own interpretive projects. In all of our activities, we seek to promote critical thinking and active learning by encouraging students to engage in their own unique interpretation of SCA materials.

For instruction requests, contact Dan Davis at daniel.davis@usu.edu.

Online Learning Resources

SCA staff also develop web-based tutorials and research guides to support online learning environments, as well as supplement traditional classroom instruction. Browse our list of tutorials and research guides or contact Dan Davis at daniel.davis@usu.edu for help adapting a tutorial to meet your course objectives.

Exhibitions and Events

Exhibitions provide opportunities for USU students and faculty to conduct and present original research on resources found in Special Collections and Archives. Exhibition curators approach these resources from a variety of scholarly perspectives, and develop exhibition themes that revolve around the historical, literary, aesthetic, or cultural content of the resources.

Events and educational programming are integral to the education and outreach efforts of Special Collections and Archives. In conjunction with exhibitions we coordinate formal lectures, discussion panels, gallery talks and tours that further explore exhibitions themes and subject matter.
