Podcast Metadata
Metadata is "data about data." An item of metadata may describe an individual item, content item or a collection of data including multiple content items. The word meta comes from the Greek meaning 'after' or 'beyond.' In epistemology, the prefix meta- is used to mean about (its own category); thus metadata is 'data about the data.' Because each podcast submitted to an instructor for inclusion in the Fife Folklore Archives will be cataloged in both a physical and online collection format, we must have metadata to describe each podcast.
