Biography
Kurt Meyer is a cataloger in the Libraries' Cataloging and Metadata Services unit. Before joining USU Libraries in 1998, Kurt worked as a campground host in the Medicine Bow National Forest 30 miles west of Laramie, WY, and as a cataloger and instructor in North Dakota. Kurt enjoys cataloging a variety of materials, including government publications, audiovisual materials, electronic resources, and especially maps, which give him the opportunity to discover new places to explore. In his spare time, Kurt enjoys camping and nature reading and writing. His personal heroes include nature writer Edward Abbey, political columnist for the Des Moines Register Donald Kaul, and Sir Francis Chichester, who is best known for sailing a 54-ft ketch in a lone voyage around the world at the age of 65. USU Libraries' collection includes books by all three authors.
