The library is co-hosting an event with Kinesiology and Health Sciences faculty member Javi Lopez Frias on October 7th at 3:30 p.m. in Library Room 101.

In the presentation, the book's co-authors, Javi López and Alex Asay, will explain how an Arizonan living in Athens, Georgia, and a Spaniard residing in State College, Pennsylvania, and later Logan, Utah, embarked on a collaborative journey to write a monograph about the philosopher who most shaped their academic careers and lives: Bernard Suits. They will then discuss the book's unique contributions: a clear and comprehensive introduction to Suits' philosophy and its significance across philosophy, game and leisure studies, and the philosophy of sport. By situating Suits' work within broader intellectual debates, they will discuss how his exploration of gameplay illuminates enduring philosophical questions—such as those concerning definitions and the good life—and ultimately explain the unity of Suits' philosophical project: providing individuals who live in societies that glorify work and productivity with other more meaningful ways to live.
