Utah State University Libraries is proud to reopen its Open Access Fund for 2026, supporting faculty, staff, and students with the cost of publishing in Gold Open Access journals. From January 5 through January 12, eligible applicants can apply for up to 50% of their Article Processing Charges (APCs), up to a maximum of $1,500.

What's Covered and What's Not

This annual $30,000 fund ensures that high-impact research is more accessible to the world. Successful applicants must deposit their published articles in USU's institutional repository, in alignment with the university's commitment to open access. Please note: funds cannot be used for page charges, color figure fees, or retroactive APC reimbursements.

Fair, Transparent, and Impact-Driven

Applications will be reviewed using a new transparent evaluation matrix, ensuring fairness and elevating research that may otherwise go unsupported.

USU's Open Access Policy also supports faculty and staff publishing behind paywalls by allowing preprint versions to be shared in the university repository.
