Impact

In 2017, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences partnered with USU Libraries and Academic & Instructional Services to create a grant opportunity for the creation, adaptation, and adoption of OER within the college. Below is a snapshot of the grant's impact.

OER CHaSS Grant; 8 Faculty Members; Faculty within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences recieved grant funding to create, adapt, or adopt Open Educational Resources for their courses. 970 Students; Nearly one thousand students were directly impacted as a result of the grant, each saving more than $79 on average. $77,000 in Savings; From the initial $20,000 investment, students saved an estimated $70,000. This is a fairly conservative estimate, and the OER created, adopted, and adapted are freely available online for other faculty and students around the world to use.
