Meta Quest 2 Instructions

Headset Checkout

Use your student ID to check out a headset with the consultant on duty. They will give you a numbered keycard that you can swipe to open the Meta Quest cabinet with the corresponding number.

Fitting Headset

Unplug the headset and take out tray containing the headset and the controllers. Take the tray to a designated VR area. To adjust the headset fit, use the adjustable straps. The Velcro strap on top changes how deeply the headset rests on your head, and the elastic side straps adjust the tightness.

Starting Device

Power on the headset by holding the small button on the right side of the headset. Put on the controllers and tighten the wrist straps. Make sure when putting on the controllers that the grip buttons on the side are facing inwards and not outwards.

Adjusting Lenses

You can change the lens distance by carefully sliding one of the eyepieces to either side, with 3 notched settings. This can help make the image clearer. Make sure not to touch the lenses themselves.

Setting a Boundary

The headset should first display your surroundings and begin walking you through creating a boundary. If text is hard to read, try adjusting the headset vertically on your eyes. Follow the steps to adjust the floor level and draw a boundary using the tape markings on the floor.

Navigate Menu

When the boundary is finished, you can start looking around your virtual environment. Tap up with either joystick and point on the ground to teleport within the virtual space. Press the right controller's Meta Quest button to open up the universal menu at any time. Holding the button centers the environment around you. Point and click the trigger button to select in the menu. To see a list of all apps, click the 9-dots button in the bottom right of the universal menu.

Shutting Down

When you are done, press and hold the power button until the headset shuts off completely. Put the headset and controllers back on the tray. Return the tray to the cabinet. Plug in the headset to charge. Return the keycard to the consultant to retrieve your student ID.
