A World Transformed: The Transcontinental Railroad and Utah

A World Transformed: the Transcontinental Railroad and Utah, shares the story of Utah’s contribution to the completion of the transcontinental railroad and examines the railway’s transformational effects on Utah. A partnership between Utah State University’s Merrill-Cazier Library and the Utah State Division of History, A World Transformed will travel the state of Utah from January 2019 through March of 2020. The exhibition draws upon the many rich historical resources held by different institutions across not only Utah but the entire United States, including photographs, maps, art, and lithographs.

Traveling Exhibition Schedule

  • The Utah State Capital (January 4th - June 2019) *Opening Reception Jan. 23rd, 3-5pm

  • The Merrill-Cazier Library (July - September 2019)

  • The Southern Utah Museum of Art (October - December 2019)

  • The Park City Museum (February - March 2020)

Please join us for the Grand Opening of this exhibit and two others on January 23rd from 3-5pm on the 4th floor gallery of the Utah State Capitol Building!

A condensed version of the exhibit is available for booking through the Utah Division of Arts & Museums' Traveling Exhibits Program. An extended digital version will be available through USU University Libraries.
