Scope and Content:

The Miscellaneous Snapshots Collection consists of 74 pictures taken at Yellowstone National Park (including the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Old Faithful and Bears), Utah State University (including the LDS Institute, Merrill Library, Old Main, and Champ Drive), Glacier National Park, Long Beach, California, the Grand Canyon, the Construction site of Hoover (Boulder) Dam, and several unidentified locations. These are snapshots in which the donors are not known and in most cases the people in the photos are unidentified. Most of the images appear to have been taken from the 1920s to the 1940s.

1:01:08. “Another View of the glaciers. The darkness below the snowline are all forests. You can imagine the sight. Here the snow is still 50 feet deep and some lakes still froze over.” Probably taken in Glacier National Park.
1:01:09. “Glaciers viewed from Logan Pass which was just opened and dedicated the day before we passed over it. A most wonderful and inspiring sight 8250 above sea level and the mountain tops rise another 1000 to 1500 feet above the pass.” Taken in Glacier National Park.
1:01:10. “St. Mary’s lake, going to the sun challets. 11 1/2 miles long and a 9 1/2 mile steam boat ride if you have the price $18.00. But what a sight here we stopped 1 1/2 hours to feast on the sights and beauty. There are a few islands in the lake.” Probably taken in Glacier National Park.

1:01:13. “A wonderful fall going up to avalanche lake. This is the prettiest waterfall we have run across on account of the wearing of the granite walls during the ages; a pretty formation. The picture does not do justice to the natural beauty.” Probably taken in Glacier National Park.
