P0036

More Photo Collections / Ordering Copies / Search Engine

Scope and Content:

The Thatcher Family collection consists of 146 images including studio portraits, many of which are carte-de-visites and cabinet cards, of the Thatcher family (including Moses Thatcher, Jr., Moses Thatcher, Sr., Moses Thatcher, III, Leora Thatcher, Letitia Ann Thatcher, Helen Thatcher Woodruff, and Ida Thatcher Reese), a camping trip in Logan Canyon, and the 1897 Semi-Centennial Jubilee parade in Salt Lake City.

Provenance:

These photos were removed from the Moses Thatcher Sr. Papers, COLL MSS 22 and the Thatcher Family Papers, COLL MSS 93. Those collections were donated by members of the Thatcher family including Leora Thatcher.

A small number of photographs from the collection were removed and mounted in the regular photograph file. These were group photos rather than portrait style prints and were not held in any original mountings. A large bundle of negatives was also donated and those of interest have been printed and are mounted in the U.S.U. historical photo-board files.

Researcher Note:

More photographs and information about the Thatcher family can be found in the Thatcher Brothers Banking records (COLL MS 3), the George W. Thatcher papers (COLL MS 47), the Thatcher family papers (COLL MS 93), and the Moses Thatcher Sr. collection (COLL MS 22). Register completed by Peter Schmidt, January 1998, and revised by Daniel Davis, January 2004.
