Scope and Content:

The Delmar Clive Tingey collection consists of photographs taken while Tingey was a Professor of Agronomy at Utah State University from 1924 to 1963. The images in the collection show research on weed control, the effects of over-grazing, experimental agricultural fields, charts, and specimen samples.

Biographical Note:

Delmar Tingey was born on May 19, 1897 in Brigham City, Utah. He graduated from Box Elder Tingey High School and received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Agronomy from Utah State University. He did post-graduate work at the University of Minnesota. Tingey was a pioneer in wheat hybridization, weed science, and biometry. In 1982 he was honored by the USU Alumni Association with a Distinguished Service Award. He died in 1989 in Ogden, Utah.

Researcher Note:

Some of the photographs in this collection were used in the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station publications. For more information about these images see the Circular series 18.1 and Circular pamphlet series 18.2 located in Utah State University Archives.

Nitrate negatives have been removed from this collection and placed into Cold Storage Box 1. Patrons must request to view these negatives 3 hours in advance. Print copies are located in the collection.
