NIH Public Access Policy:

     Author Rights, Author Education

On January 11, 2008, the National Institutes of Health released a revised policy on public access to NIH funded research. The policy requires scientists to submit journal articles that arise from NIH funds to the digital archive PubMed Central. Utah State University would like to assist authors in complying fully with this policy. This page will direct principle investigators and researchers to information about the NIH requirements and materials that might aid in understanding the requirements. If you have questions, please contact any of the individuals listed at the right.

NIH information:

With the NIH policy in effect, authors will need to become more aware of their rights when signing publishing contracts. NIH funded publications will require additional actions by authors. An addendum to most contracts will assure that the author has the right to deposit the article with PubMed Central. Authors can, however, retain many of these rights regardless of whether the publication is NIH funded.
