Stewart and others helped to found in the 1930s when the mountain was being badly abused by overgrazing of sheep and cattle, burning of brush, etc., and floods were an acute problem. With cooperation of the U.S. Forest Service, the cooperation raised funds and bought up the most critical areas of the mountain, from Jack Spires and other owners, and deeded these lands to the Forest Service. His father had come 8 years earlier, saved his money from his wages as a coal miner near Kemmerer and sent for other members of the family as soon as possible, over the 8-years period. After driving a team in the mines Jack Giovanni followed his parents on down to Weber county, Ut., where they had bought a farm. He married and has spent the rest of his life farming west of Ogden in Taylor ward and Kanesville. Joined LDS church in 1930s. Has 13 sons (11 living) and 1 daughter, living. His winter range is near Promontory and Grouse Creek in western Box Elder County; his summer range is on Monte Cristo mountain in the Cache range. He spent most of his life in Brigham City as a junk collector and seller. He gives his reasons for coming to America, experiences that he had here as a newcomer, difficulties in learning the language, adjusting to the society, gives some of his philosophy of life including his formula for a successful living and good health. She is the daughter of the pioneer settlers of Bountiful and a granddaughter of the famous Patty Sessions. She tells of her girlhood days as a pioneer child and as a young married woman being among the group of Mormon pioneers who went to the Bighorn Basin in north Wyoming to settle this country. She became a widow and personally operated a large farm there and built a rock house.
