Historical Note
Originally, The Book Table was an oak table displaying books that stood outside Scheby's cleaning and tailoring shop on Main Street. Local interest and demand for more children's and adults' books led to the establishment of a permanent bookstore, funded by donations from leading businessmen's wives in Logan. The Book Table opened its doors in1933 and was owned and operated by Lottie Hall Kuntz Esplin, a home reading specialist, for over 30 years. After Esplin's death in 1967, the store was inherited by her sixteen year old grandson, Miles Jensen, who sold it to Brent Hoggan and Glade Olsen. S. Eugene Needham purchased the store in 1976. Since Needham's purchase, The Book Table has moved twice and currently stands on Main Street in Logan. Esplin sold hard bound books for children and adults; Needham has expanded the store's inventory to include books on tape, videos, art supplies and musical instruments.
