Navajo Testimony recorded and introduced by Father Liebler
Letter dated September 29, 1973:
I guess you all are the best friend, we’ve all ever had and we do love you and appreciate all you’ve done to help us through everything and in our time of need. When I was a little girl all I had to wear was what you gave us. I guess I’ve always been on the receiving end. But I do thank you all for being something very rare–life-time friends. Thank you for praying for me . . . God bless you and I love you all.—Faye Belle

(Script below)

My father and mother live near the place where the missionary came and I had a big sister and young sister and three young brother. We live in hogan and some of us had to herd sheep everyday. We didn’t go to school, there was no school for us to go to. If we got sick we got a medicine man to sing. When the Father Liebler came with four other white people and put up their tent near the irrigation ditch and cottonwood trees. We felt they were just tourist, but soon we learn that they were missionary. We didn’t know what that mean in our language. We said "Ee’niishoodi" that means the one that drags, drags his coat like that man that wear a long coat down to the ground. We didn’t believe them when they said they were going to stay. We felt they would leave pretty soon. Now after 15 years we know they are here to do us good. But to show us the way to take in the Jesus way. I was baptized and went to the confession and I, holy communion, I went to the Mass and I usually to services. And I believed and I know that through Jesus died to save us all.—Dan Benally
