The Navajos called him "the missionary who does some good, not just talks." Father Liebler was a priest who became immersed in their culture, their lives, and their needs. He served the people regardless of whether or not they accepted or rejected his message and this compassionate service led to a mutual respect and appreciation between cultures. In a place looked upon by most white culture as being desolate and barren, Father Liebler saw a land as majestic as the proud native people who had lived there for hundreds of years and who seemed to be lost and forgotten between two cultural byways.
